Pam's Passion

My Passion is art!

Welcome to my studio!

Here you will see art, large and small.  I am an active member of several Artist's Trading Cards websites (small art).  The challenge of a variety of mail art swaps keeps my creativity active and flowing.  I also make larger mixed media pieces and paint on canvas.

February 2010:  Our Everchanging Earth

:

"Godlight Over the Palouse"

16" X 20", acrylic on canvas

I've been drawn to godlight ever since our daughter's wedding.  She was married in our yard and rain threatened all morning.  When the pastor arrived and the bride and groom stood up to say their vows, the light broke through the clouds as if in blessing.  That was in 1996 and they are still going strong.

"Laughing Creek"

16" X 20", acrylic paint on canvas.

I often paint trees and water, perhaps because I'm drawn to shade and cool water during the hot days of summer.   I'm a spring or autumn girl at heart.

5" X 7" acrylics on canvas, "Pathway to Heaven"  Nov. 2009

"Quarry Lake"  18" X 24 " for my sweet friend Lena.  Aloha!,

Acrylic on canvas, August 19, 2009

"Dreamland" (above), mixed media ATC

"Aspen Grove"

8" X 10" acrylic paint on prestretched, preframed canvas for my friend Marion, December 2008.

High Country Oasis  38" X 53"

Here's a painting finished in December, 2008 called "High Country Oasis,"  a dream of a place in the high country of Central Oregon with the Cascade Range in the background.  There are lots of dainty wildflowers  not captured well in this photo.

"Cloud Shadows"  5" X 7" on canvas.   A gift for Sarah Zamora, Dec., 2008

"Glass Lake"  5" X 7" on canvas.  A gift for Meran ni Cuill, Dec. 2008

Pam McVay, Multi-media Artist

One of my friends introduced me to altered CDs.  Here are my first three.  The flip sides are decorated, too, but also include my name and address.  All three CDs have some hand-drawn elements.

Prayer Gourds

As you can see, I am currently making lots of gourd art.  These gourds range in size from about six inches in diameter to over 18 inches.  They are painted with acrylic paint, sealed, and hand-beaded.  The beaded gourds are called prayer gourds as each bead was prayed over while being attached.  The purple gourd is now in the private collection of Joel Armstrong of Siloam Springs, AR.

As a retired gr. 1-12 art teacher, it is only natural that my life is spent largely in my studio.  It is quiet and messy there and, as my own boss, I find it near perfect!

It's good to see you here!

The Artist's Way

I would like to thank Karen Landey for intoducing me, via Indie Arts, to The Artist's Way lifestyle.  Julia Cameron wrote The Artist's Way:  A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity, I read it and follow it.  My morning pages lead me through my day.  With gratitude, I create.  Thank you to Karen and Julia for being huge inspirations in my life!
